Advocacy: You can now register for the 2009 Intensive Trial Advocacy program. There is limited space for this program, so register early. Download the brochure and registration form now! Registration forms are also available at the Law Society office. This fall, September 30 - October 3, the court is your classroom. Test your advocacy skills before administrative tribunals. Get one-on-one mentoring from senior lawyers and judges, develop your courtroom and hearing presence, and explore every aspect of trial and hearing work: civil, criminal and administrative. Regulation: Trust Account Declarations are Due Members' annual updates regarding trust accounts are due September 1, 2009 . If you have not already, please complete the required information. Members with open/active trust accounts must submit a Form V: "Certificates of Member or Accountant". Those without trust accounts must submit a Statutory Declaration indicating so. The required forms are available online at www.lawsociety.nt.ca. If you are uncertain whether you have or have not submitted the required form, please contact the Law Society. Rules Amended: Client ID The Law Society Executive has ordered the amendment of the rules regarding Client Identification and Verification. The amendment brings the regulation into line with the national rule while maintaining the context. Of particular note is the definition list of guarantors (by profession). The CBA's Legal Profession Assistance Conference has recently unveiled its new website. Take some time to visit the new online home of LPAC.
