Trial Advocacy:
REGISTER NOW!

You can now register for the 2009 Intensive Trial Advocacy program.  There is limited space for this program, so register early.  Download the brochure and registration form now! Registration forms are also available at the Law Society office.

This fall, September 30 - October 3, the court is your classroom.  Test your advocacy skills before administrative tribunals. Get one-on-one mentoring from senior lawyers and judges, develop your courtroom and hearing presence, and explore every aspect of trial and hearing work: civil, criminal and administrative.

Fine-tune your professional skills with seminars and events by Eugene Meehan, QC (Ottawa), Laura K. Stevens, QC (Edmonton), Julia K. Hannaford (Toronto), Shelley L. Miller, QC (Edmonton), Molly Nabor-Sykes (Calgary), Susan T. Cooper (Iqaluit), and more. 


Regulation:
Trust Account Declarations are Due

Members' annual updates regarding trust accounts are due September 1, 2009 .  If you have not already, please complete the required information.

Members with open/active trust accounts must submit a Form V: "Certificates of Member or Accountant". Those without trust accounts must submit a Statutory Declaration indicating so.

The required forms are available online at www.lawsociety.nt.ca.  If you are uncertain whether you have or have not submitted the required form, please contact the Law Society.

On Saturday, September 12, join us in welcoming the Hon. Justice W. Ian Binnie, Supreme Court of Canada, at the annual Presidents' Dinner. 

Justice Binnie has also graciously agreed to give a talk.  Be sure to attend this very special lunch-hour event on Friday, September 11.
