Journey for Change 2009

This Friday, July 10, Yellowknife Victim Services and the Native Women's Association of the NWT will be hosting Journey for Change, a walk to raise awareness about violence against Aboriginal women.

The 10km walk around the Airport Loop begins at 12:30 at City Hall.  At 5:00pm, walkers/runners will be welcomed back with live music and a barbeque.  Dakota House, best known for his role as Tee Vee Tenia on North of 60, is speaking at the opening ceremonies, as is Sandy Lee, MLA for Range Lake and Minister Responsible for the Status of Women, and Nancy Peel, Executive Director of the Native Women's Association of the NWT. Entertainment is provided by local musicians Dana Sipos and Kiera Kolson.

Resident Member Caroline Wawzonek has extended an invite to join her on her run, or to sponsor her or other participants on their Journey for Change.  To avoid taking a full afternoon from work, Caroline will be running the loop starting at 3:30pm.  Members interested in participating or donating to participants can contact Caroline.  More information is available by contacting Caroline or the Law Society

We wish all participants the best on their journey for change.
