of the Bar for the Civil Bench and Bar Committee are Adrian Wright, Donald
Large, Paul Falvo and Katherine Peterson.
The first meeting
of the newly constituted Committee will be on April 1, 2009.

issues to date which we anticipate will be discussed are:

and the nature of your concerns.
The Committee will ensure that a summary of issues discussed or decisions made will be circulated to the Membership. If you have suggestions as to how this is best accomplished, please let us know.
The CBA's Administrative Law Section has invited David Phillip Jones, Q.C., to discuss recent developments in Administrative Law on Thursday, April 9, 2009. Mr. Jones is one of the leading authorities on administrative law, and his presentations have been in high demand throughout the country.
Mr. Jones will dive into the Dunsmuir decision, the recent Lévis and VIA Rail cases, the SCC's decision to uphold the Khosa case, as well as other decisions.
This presentation will begin with a lunch at Fuego International Cuisine. This is an open event for members of the CBA and LSNT. All members are strongly encouraged to take advantage of this event. More information will be available soon. If you haven't already, please RSVP by return.
Join Donn MacDougall in his presentation on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 - 12:00pm. Mr. MacDougall, Manager of Securities & Corporate Legal Registries at the Department of Justice (GNWT), will be discussing the following:

Join us for lunch in the boardroom on Tuesday, April 28, when Thomas Hall, Registrar of Land Titles and Personal Property with the Department of Justice, gives tips on how to avoid having documents rejected.
Hall's presentation will dispel some commonly held myths regarding document examination, explain the role of the document examiners, identify the most common document preparation errors and how to avoid them, and explain what the Land Titles Office can do to help submitters.

The representatives of the Bar for the Criminal Bench and Bar Committee are Kelly Payne, Caroline Wawzonek, Thomas Boyd and Shannon Smallwood.
There is a meeting scheduled for May 11, 2009. On the agenda is a proposal from the Bench to change Supreme Court Criminal Chambers on Mondays from Courtroom #1 at 2pm to Courtroom #5 at 10am. Currently in conflict for counsel is the Youth Justice Court, scheduled on Mondays at 9:30am in Courtroom #2.
Members are asked to address any concerns they have regarding this to one of the Committee members.
Similarly, if you have any issues you would like raised at this meeting, please advise a member of the committee.
